Free the Honey - Rugged Mountain Stage, Crested Butte Arts Festival, Crested Butte, CO - August 2, 2013

[Colorado] Four young girls on upright bass, fiddle, guitar, mandolin, cups. I really liked them. Gothic country folk sound – Appalachian roots. For such a young band, there was a cohesiveness – everybody was on the same page – lots of nice harmonizing. They knew how to stay spare and quiet when need be. The primary singer has a great warm voice that could bend in tricky ways. The upright bassist was a dead ringer for Daphne Zuniga and I liked how her enjoyment of the music shined all over her face and body.
