The Funky Bob Show - Trackers Bar and Lounge, Mt. Crested Butte, CO - August 2, 2013

[Crested Butte, CO?] We ventured onto the Mountain to investigate Friday evening parking, free ski lift rides, and the free music stage in anticipation of a visit from The Hydes. Done. I knew Funky Bob was going to play but he was supposed to play at the Red Bud or something or other stage – we were having a drink and a snack and watching the crazy Coloradoans bicycling, zip-lining, jumping, diving, and ski lift riding all over the mountain when a slick middle-aged gentleman (turquoise jewelry type) set himself up on a little stage at the outdoor bar. We were debating what sort of music he would DJ – Rockboy predicted reggae. It wasn’t a DJ set – it was a keyboard – that he sang along with – we turned to each other and simultaneously said, “Worse.” Honestly, he was all right – a good voice – pleasant music – somewhere between soft rock and new age – but then it got kind of funky. It was Funky Bob – whuuut? His billing for himself is totally off. And it’s just hard not to look silly when you’re using a keyboard to replicate different instruments.
