[Oregon /
Colorado / Boston] Centerpiece is the mandolin but all are really good
musicians. Better voice than Yonder -
although they did put on a fake texas accent. Lots of moods – kept in
interesting - Some blues, waltz, fast jazz, classical, pop grass (OAR),
borderline barbershop quartet, yacht rock. Each has a personality that matches
their instrument. Guitarist was doing lap steel tricks. Joliff went from Oregon
to Berklee Music School to bluegrass – imagine his thought process. The
instrumentals were the best… sometimes. Covered CCR and others but did write
their own songs too… well actually not sure now that I’m looking up lyrics. Liked
the California song (heads, California, tails, Carolina... mountains… deserts)
– turns out it’s by Jo Dee Messina. Liked the song they told a story about –
they wait for NY subway trains and the wait gets to be so long they fantasize
about just. Liked the song: “I misunderstood – I thought she was saying good
luck, she was saying good bye” – turns out it was by Richard Thompson. They did
“Summer Breeze” too. Por little Jake Goliff’s brother was sitting in the
audience with their dad feeling all lowly no doubt. Uppity and not uppity. Golor:
arrogant, mischevious, innocent, sensual. Liked their proggy jams a lot – very
Can. I think they actually coverd a can song – vitamin c. They did a Grisman
8-minute song. Covered The Strokes’ “Last Night.” Each song memorable. Yeah/jedi/fiddle
stevie constipated. Gomer pyle. Flinstone haircut/sarste. Elvis sneer. Does
bluegrass have stand up bass. Bags muppet. Probably feel a whole lot better
when you’re gone (turns out The Byrds).
