[from
Wood Mountain, Saskatchewan, Canada] They’re second cousins. Their sound is tight
and high. How did this turn into a smut novel? They’re a sweet country waver –
often singing super high like “I’ll Call You Angel of the Morning.” The
annoyance level was lower than exected – it ended up making them distinctive.
They’re traditionalists with a bit of a modern spin. Their origins in a snow
swept land totally fit. The guy basically accompanied her on guitar and vocals.
Both were accomplished guitarists, detailed. She also used a seemingly affected
manner of speech between songs almost to where I suspected she just talks that
way, but I think not – she slipped a few times. The people in front of me kept
laughing and mouthing “we love you” to Kacy, who was mostly deadpan/shy. The
last song I saw was a cover of a “fiddle song” although they had no fiddles, “Done
Gone” by Texan Eck Robertson, they told the crowd. For the record, I love “Angel
of the Morning.”
