Unknown - CirCle Restaurant & Bar, Lampang, Thailand - September 8, 2025

[Lampang, Thailand] This is not a place Western tourists go – and I am in no way bragging by saying that– more that’s its too suburban for most tourists jajaja. We landed here because… we were trying to find distractions in between the long trek from Bangkok to Chiang Mai – we failed, utterly >< and landed in a harmless suburban town after a terrible 13 hour bus ride. We had told our fabulously gay tour guide for a fantastic culinary tour in Bangkok that Lampang was our next stop and he gasped about how Lampang was his childhood home and why ever would we be going there when he had fled it years before – we didn’t know. We just were. We arrived bitter after the long bus ride – English was no longer spoken – the hotel boss woman was flummoxed by us and took thirty minutes to check us in. The shower ended up being a whole bathroom spray situation instead of a body spray situation. ANYWAY – we walked down the solemn main road in the dead of the night to a restaurant I had identified as pleasing. NiceButAlsoDangerous was disgusted by our lack of adherence to appropriate travel standards: nothing mainstream, nothing expensive. This restaurant was all of those things (I mean, on Thailand standards). Dum dum dum. I would like to note that this unseemly restaurant did offer delicious food and intriguing habits, like providing a pitcher of ice for your beer, a little side area with the ice bucket and a trash can. BEST OF ALL, and partly why I suggested this place, there was live music! Intriguingly, these artists had the very same styling as the artists we’d seen before: fisherman’s cap, sunglasses, folk pop. How lucky was I to be able to see music in a country as foreign as Thailand and a city as untouristed as Lampang?! Winning every day this girl is. I don’t have anything more to say about the music and I’m sorry about that.
